stemked Posted December 18, 2016 Share Posted December 18, 2016
Hello All.

Some crazy weather going on, snow ice, sleet, rain. Never know what's around the corner!
I went to work with my 18-55 and the K5iis. It was great for my first shot.

Snow scene, Williams Creek, Indianapolis

Next is a case of having the wrong lens at the right time.While walking for snow scenes a Red Tailed Hawk took off right in front of me with a squirrel. All I had was the 18-55. Still, not a bad shot.

Red Tailed Hawk, Indianapolis.

Finally a case of having the right lens at the right time. For years I have tried to get a decent photo of a Ringed Kingfisher. But they are very weary. I saw ths one a long way off across a part of Eagle Creek reservoir. Fortunately I had my 600mm f5.6 A and my 2X-L TC with a cropped body. I still had to crop, but I got a decent return.

Ringed Kingfisher, Indianapolis.

Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

MattB.Net Posted December 19, 2016 Share Posted December 19, 2016
I drove down to Taos, NM over the weekend to attend my office holiday party. The drive and Taos are very scenic! This time around the drive was less than ideal at times too due to weather but it just forced me to slow down and enjoy the countryside a little more (between whiteout conditions).
Cano's Castle in Antonito, Colorado
The guy who built this out of scrap and junk is a Vietnam vet and credits Jesus and marijuana as his inspirations. :)
K-1 & ff mod DA* 60-250
<a title="IMGP0301-Edit" href=" data-flickr-embed="true">
.

Sangre de Cristos from near Monte Vista
645D & 67 300/4
<a title="IMGP6667-Edit" href=" data-flickr-embed="true">
.

San Francisco de Asis Mission in Taos
645D & FA 45-85
<a title="IMGP6634-Edit" href=" data-flickr-embed="true">
Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
