well its been a few weeks since I have had anything to put in POTW, but this week I got some great chances to shoot some pics so here it goes. I have 3 for this week. First is of our state capitol I have one of my wife and son, then one of the dome inside, and my third is a shot of our little girl at a beauty pageant where she took first place in her age group.

00XUpw-291063584.jpg.bc0e41d533fd2fd4ed46834a59c1380d.jpg

The Coastal Carolina series, and thus my sample images of the Samsung TL500 is coming to an end, a few more I have tagged to process and upload but the best of the series is behind me. The camera review should be out shortly now that the sample images are complete. All I can say is, I wish Pentax would compete in this market segment!

I don't think I put this guy up yet, if I did, I apologize, looked back and it doesn't appear it was in a POTW since I uploaded it on Sept 25th. Photo data available in description by clicking through.

And one I'm certain hasn't been in a POTW, as I just uploaded it the other day...

The B&W shots are luscious so far.
The PNW Autumn has been so unspectacular that the regional Nature Photographers Association annual Fall Shoot near Mt. St. Helens was canceled this year due to lack of color.
So I grab it when I can. The next two photographs are among some finalists I'm sifting through for some commissioned work I've been doing over the past 6 months. The crisp Autumn light is finally available on site; it was blocked by a bluff for almost too long.

ME,

I am not necessarily "glad" to hear everyones autumn foliage pretty much sucked, but at least we can all share in the misery of one of the great natural photographic seasons being lost.

My wife talked to her mom today in Arkansas and they were returning early from their weekend house in the Ozark Mountains as the foliage was just not exciting at all. Arkansas was always hit or miss though.

So it appears, unless someone from the South East chimes in differently shortly, that the entire northern US from Pacific to Atlantic and the Central US was a bust. Maybe Colorado did a little better?

Mushrooms...I always find it amazing how many different varieties..Most not edible...Some are interesting in the way they mimic foods... #1 My wife thought this looked like Parmesan encrusted mozzarella #2 I thought this looked like a piece of white bark chocolate with sprinkles of dark chocolate #3 A Bumble bee and wildflower from my New Hampshire trip

And here is a picture with old school-feel from an old-school lens, the Tele-Vivitar 85mm f/1.8:

(I didn't quite nail the focus here, as the lens is quite soft wide open which makes focusing difficult, never mind how the viewfinder falsely boosts DOF at wide apertures. Sorry!)

00XUux-291133584.JPG.ece67f8dbed8e22a156a098dfc330ad8.JPG

Sunday already...time flies when you are processing pictures!
Some great submissions this week, certainly all the b/w shots, and quite a few others. Dorus you make some fascinating photos from the unlikeliest subjects :-).
My three this week are from my most recent trip.. The first is the courtyard of a castle/mansion circa the 1700's that has been renovated. It's in the mountains southeast of Beirut.

00XUvt-291147584.thumb.jpg.7232f55ed8ad3a0379dd48a79ae6c89a.jpg

This last one is the Treasury at Petra.. I waited around for a bit, but no Indy
As an aside, Petra is immense, if you are ever thinking of visiting, make sure you plan to stay for 3 days. I walked around for 11 hours in 2 days, and saw about 1/2 of it.

00XUw7-291151584.thumb.jpg.f6cc94fafa75496f957a8561ca8dfbb0.jpg
