ralf_j.
While it is not as problematic as this past weekend, I am still experiencing hanging on the site. Here are two screen shots:<div></div>

CharlesBecker-Toronto
Josh-I am finding the site continues to be very slow; it hasn't changed at all from last weekend. The pages load very slowly and site navigation is also slow. iMac using Safari. cb
HuskyMason1
site navigation seems fine for me and by the way...thanks for fixing the resizing problem. Mike
Tim_Lookingbill
Ditto what Michael said. 2004 20" iMac G5 OS 10.4.11, Java J2SE 5.0-(don't know if that's relevant). New uncached pages load in 2 seconds ads and all.
Tim_Lookingbill
What could be causing these inconsistencies between member's download speeds? I have my OS X firewall on with no sharing of any kind. All boxes are unchecked.
CharlesBecker-Toronto
I don't know what the problem is; all I know is that this site has been very slow for about two weeks-as slow as it ever was before. i am totally frustrated. cb
joshroot
I have no doubt that it is frustrating. It's hard to know what the reason is when one member is seeing one speed and another is seeing another. Though typically, it points to some bottleneck on the user's end (or between the user and PN). Not to point fingers at Charles, as I know he's a bright guy. But if the problem were truly on the server end, I hear about it from a lot of users or experience it myself. Have you tried Firefox? Does that make a difference in speed in any way? CharlesBecker-Toronto
Hi Josh-I only use Safari as my web browser and it works very well (my computer is only 6 months old); all web sites open quickly and there are no problems navigating through them. The only site I have a problem with is this one and that has been the case for about 2 weeks now. cb
joshroot
That still doesn't answer my question. Have you tried Firefox with photo.net and does it make any difference? I don't just ask questions to hear myself talk (despite what my wife thinks), I need to know stuff like this to do the best I can at tracking down any issue that might be coming from our end. things work differently on different browsers. So if you said to me "the site loads fine on Firefox but is bogging on Safari." I would then start testing to make sure that we don't have some sort of bug that would mess with the way safari loads things. If you said "No, it loads just as bad with Firefox" that would point more towards some sort of bottleneck between PN and your computer.
CharlesBecker-Toronto
I have not tried Firefox; I figured saying "I only use Safari" answered your question but I guess not.
ShunCheung
I essentially haven't had any problems at all since a couple of days after the hardware upgrade a month or two ago. I am surprised to learn that some others are having delay issues again. I use IE7.
CharlesBecker-Toronto
Shun-check out the PN Hanging thread on site feedback; I don't know if any 'corrections' have been made since the weekend-it doesn't look like it. http://www.photo.net/site-feedback-forum/00Pz8T
ShunCheung
Charles, I saw that thread earlier, but I haven't had any performance issues. In fact, there are some additional features that are for moderators only and those features are very database intensive. I use them daily and don't have any problems either. Of course that doesn't mean there are no problems; I am just surprised that I haven't come across them.
