Photo Equipment Rental Insurance

Hi All,
I have my eye on a camera body and would like to rent it before I buy. With photo equipment being quite pricey, if the equipment I rent is lost, stolen or damaged, I'm screwed. So, is there a source of inexpensive insurance I could purchase to cover the rented equipment. I do have an Amex card. But, they said their insurance only covers an actual purchase.

You may be susceptible to damage since anyone can make a mistake but you are unlikely to lose an expensive price of camera equipment that you have for just a few days and it's really the same for theft - you've got to not let it out of your sight. In the U.S. a company called Lensrentals.com rents most Canon cameras and they offer damage insurance for about $2 per day. Perhaps this would work for you:
http://www.lensrentals.com/rent/canon/cameras

Just beware about the exclusions on an insurance policy. One that I looked into excluded any theft where there wasn't a sign of a break in.

Example - say someone working for a hotel stole your camera - they had access to the master key - a security guard, maid, maintenance working steals the camera - the insurance company won't pay.

I've seen other exclusions - theft out a car, etc

Caveat Emptor - check the exclusions
