Organizing a photo competition

Recommended Posts

Hello, I'm currently in a photography club and one of the requirements for being

in this club is that we each member has to come up with an activity for the

whole club to do. These are things like organizing a photographic field trip, a

photography competition, or something to that affect. Now I have sort of have

an idea about what I want to, probably a photo competition, but I'd really like

to organize something a little bit more unique. Would anyone have any good

suggestions or advice. I live in Tacoma, Washington, the club is comprised of

poor undergad. students and only a few of us have cars.

Cheers

Nicole

C'mon, Morgan, this was mean...(Moderator: Refers to an incredibly rude remark by Morgan Lashley that has been removed.)

Nicole - IMHO a photo competition without a clearly specified criteria quickly becomes a chaos. Why not select a specific subject - like "Tell a story in 3 pictures" or "On my way home" ?

A discussion group where everybody sits around and critiques images you bring in. The purpose being, to openly discuss their bias' as opposed to being just another photo critique session; "I don't like that tree growing out of the back of John's head." :)

The discussion can then move into contemporary photographic styles and the relevance to what each of you are currently creating and how each's bias' affects their personal photographic style.
