arnulfo_rosas1
I have read in several places that by removing the proper filters in the Nikon DSLRs it is possible to get a dedicated camera for IR photography. If this is true please tell me where in NYC I could get this work done for me, the related cost and the time it would take. I pretend to stay in NYC for a week (2nd week of June) and this information is critical to me). On the other hand, I would like to know whether B&H, Adorama or any other reputable store accept trades in equipment towards the acquisition of new one. I will appreciate your inputs. erikbetti
Just to let you know, I shoot a fair amount of IR on my Nikon D100, and usually the results are great. I'd very much recommend NOT stripping the filter off of your camera, unless you're really OK with turning several thousand dollars of equipment into a very limited tool. To restate, my Nikon D100 works GREAT on IR - I'd recommend running some tests with filters first. I've found using my older MF 50mm f1.4 lens with a B&W IR filter and a tiffen yellow filter tends to work a bit better than my newer lenses. Also, while I usually shoot JPG, I find RAW much more forgiving. I've never shopped at adorama, but i can vouch for B&H - they're FANTASTIC! I'm not too sure if they accept trades, but I'm pretty sure they'll buy used gear ... they're on the web here: bhphotovideo.com - just in case you didn't know. best of luck! kaiyen
Personally, at some point, I might go this route. It would be nice to have higher ISO's for shooting in IR. But only after my D50 (which isn't quite as sensitive as the D70, I know) becomes my _third_ camera :-) allan
