Nikon Coolscan IV slide scanning

Dumb question time guys and gals. Can I use the regular 35mm print

(clam looking thing) on my Nikon to scan un mounted slide film? Iﾒm

hoping that I'll be able to scan 4-6 frames at a time. I've never

scanned or seen slide film un mounted and wondered if it has the

little tabs on both sides like regular print film. Also is each

frame any bigger than print film? Thanks!

Unmounted slide film looks just like negative (print) film except the image is a positive and space between images will be black. If the film is cut in strips of 4 to 6 images you can use the same film holder that you refer to as "clam looking thing" to scan the images. Spacing and image size is the same as with negative (print) film.
