Nikon 24mm

Hi all, I am a beginner with a D70 and a 24mm 2.8 lens, I can not seem to use the focus ring without getting 'EE' flashing.

At 2.8 there is no problem. Any tips greatly appreciated.

Is this an autofocus or manual focus lens?

 

If it's autofocus, set the aperture ring to f/22(or whatever the smallest setting is) and lock it there using the provided sliding lock. Set the aperture from the camera using the front command dial.

 

If it's manual focus, you MUST have the camera in manual mode, and the meter will not work.

It seems you're confusing the focus ring for the aperture ring. You should leave the aperture ring at f/22, and control the aperture with the front command wheel on your D70. The focus ring is located more near the front of the lens, while the aperture ring is the one closest to the camera body.

 

If it's a manual focus lens, as Ben writes above, it'll only work in manual (M) mode.
