News category...can't post.

<p>Maybe it's me, but I can't find a way to post in the 'News' category.<br>

Another, more experienced member has also commented having the same problem.<br>

Is this a glitch, or am I missing something?<br>

<p>About a week ago the News Forum was changed so that threads are initiated by photo.net staff, via the <a href="../photodb/user?user_id=6998777">Photo.net Industry News</a> account. As far as I can tell, members may still comment on existing threads and new threads initiated by staff. </p>

<p>This isn't unusual - a couple of the boxing forums I visit often have a similar policy, with all breaking news oriented threads being initiated only by staff members but open to comments by all members. The non-news forums on those sites are still open for members to initiate posts.</p>

<p>If you've found an interesting news item relevant to photography, the <a href="../casual-conversations-forum/">Casual Photo Conversations Forum</a> would be the best place to start a thread. Some folks will post brand-specific industry news to the brand name forums, but it's likely that more members will read it if posted to the Casual forum.</p>

<p>If you have a specific bit of industry news, please drop us a line via the "contact us" link at the bottom of the page. If you just see something newsworthy that you'd like to discuss, the Casual Photo Conv forum is a great place for it.</p>
