Wouter Willemse
A couple of new films have been announced; not yet mass available, but all the same positive news: Ferrania P30Berger Pancro 400 Together with the announcement that Kodak Ektachrome comes back, not the darkest hours ever in filmland, so to speak. Keith S in Arizona USA
Wow. The P30 sounds like the discontinued Kodak motion picture film Plus-X 5231, even the same ASA rating of 80. Film Photography Project has a limited amount of 5231 frozen-stored hand-rolled into 35mm 24 EXP until their quantity of 100 of them is gone. I would hope that the P30 is a good substitute. c_watson1
Seeing is believing. Ektachrome is set for a Q4 '17 roll-out, which suggest just a bit of slack for delays. Film Ferrania's merch is IMHO vaporware to date.
Dave Luttmann
Looking forward to trying them both. I've had good results from Berger in the past. The P30 is looking to be ready for sale around month end. I know that I will be burning a lot of Ektachrome....but when the Ferrenia E6 comes out, the different look will be another tool in my toolbox. rossb
I have a few rolls of Street Pan 400 JCH which is a back from the dead Agfa B/W surveillance film. I have shot one roll and do not know much about it but it's contrasty, low grain, sharp and the negatives are curly to the max. The Japan Camera Hunter website has pretty much all the info on it. It was a gift but I believe it was expensive for a B/W film. Next roll I will do a pre-rinse as the first roll had pink washing out at every step. JDMvW
Like my developer (D76), I always pretty much have standardized on Tri-X. I really would like to see a resurrection of Panatomic-X or even Plus-X, however.
Karim Ghantous
JDM, I'm not a b&w shooter but I am curious as to your preferred dilution. I hear that certain dilutions give finer grain. IIRC, stand development also gives finer grain.
rossb
I like grain and want it present in my photos. I think D76 and Tri-X is close to perfection.
