iancoxleigh
The new homepage section reads as if the new homepage is already in place. I'm certainly not seeing it. When is it likely to come 'live'?
joshroot
Will be live tomorrow morning.
robertshults
Josh, the new TOU has a blank space in the sentence "...you agree to be bound by the following Terms of Use and to our Privacy Policy, found at _________, which is incorporated by reference into the Terms of Use (the "Terms")." I assume that's not intentional...
joshroot
Hmm, no that is not intentional at all. I will fix it. FYI, our privacy policy is the same place it has always been: http://www.photo.net/privacy-policy
robertshults
The following section of text is reproduced verbatim in two consecutive paragraphs in the TOU: "You may not post obscene, pornographic, degrading, harassing or humiliating User Content on the Site. Please refer to our Community Guidelines for further explanation of what is acceptable in this regard. You may not post or transmit any false, defamatory, abusive, threatening or illegal User Content or User Content that infringes on the rights of others or the ability of others to enjoy the Site." Thought you'd want to know.
joshroot
Both typos fixed. Thanks for letting me know.
joseph_wisniewski
Yeah, my copy of the email is real pretty. At the top, there's a red shield symbol (twice the size of the photo.net icons, by the way)with an exclamation point and the words "Thunderbird thinks this message might be an email scam". How do you guys get on these lists? The last photo.net news got flagged as spam.
joshroot
Could be people who don't know how to stop thread/forum alerts clicking "spam" because they are lazy. Could be people messing with photo.net. Hard to know.
constance_cook
Just tried to carry out a couple of things on the site. None can be completed. If there is a worse functionally site, I'm unaware of it. And please don't help me out, one is more than ample. Conni
joseph_wisniewski
Josh, this one wasn't marked as "spam", it was sent with a scam alert. That means that one of two things happened. Your newsletter has certain cues that match the heirusticts for an emaial scam (you have a "web bug" sized graphic, or a visible graphic with a long, random appearing filename indicitave of a feedback mechanism, or something in the wording that makes Thunderbird think it's phishing or contains "hot list" phrases indicitive of a chain letter or Nigerian scam). Or the URL is was sent from is on scammer lists (much worse than being on spammer lists).

"Carry out a couple things" is hardly very descriptive.
pnital
Josh ,I tryed the email and it worked well, I tried to answer your email but could not enter the site at all, today the TIME OUT is the answer I getmost of the time, and when I at last enter even to my files I can not pass to other member files, what I get is either TIME OUT or "This member's posting history is being generated. Please try again in about a minute." I enter later on , the same thing! and every thing is VERY slow.! I simply give up.
gordonjb
I am not a programmer but I have to wonder about the wisdom of constantly fiddling around and making " improvements " when the site is already so messed up most of us cannot even use it. I get this bad feeling the whole place is about to go up in smoke.
joshroot
Gordon, Nothing is going to get that server up and running any faster. So we can either get a few other projects done while we wait, or we could sit around and do nothing. Getting work done is much more efficient than doing nothing. gordonjb
Like I said I am not a programmer. Given your response I am going to have to assume something other than you guys tinkering around is causing the site to implode. Today we seem to have hit another new low in terms of site speed. I too am going to get a few projects done and will check back in a few weeks to see if anything has changed. As always, Josh thanks for taking the time to reply and best of luck.
