Maximizing the size of the moon as it rises

  1. Here is my moon, shot last night.
    500mm f/8 mirror lens, 1/800 sec, ISO=1000
Full image, no cropping, so you can see what a 500mm lens on a DX crop sensor body does.

    Moon Full frame DSC_8941.jpg

Maybe I need to clean up and use the 800mm lens, to get more magnification.
  2. I did a negative sandwich in my photo class at the local JC, doing exactly that.
You just had to plan the landscape shot in advance, so that you had a clear sky to put the moon into.
  3. Telescope and double exposure or P.S.....
  4. Here ya go.... simple set up for 1200 mm
