kens

Just when I thought they finally had a promising business model (M9/S2), this comes along...

The business model is that if someone can order a sufficient quantity at a profitable price, why not? It's no different than the a la carte program in quantity. Special orders have always been part of Leica's business model. I don't want one, but apparently enough others do. More power to them.

It's just my anxious emotional feeling right now that everyone at Leica, including the secretaries and the caretaker, should be working around the clock on churning out as many M9s as possible and getting those backorders filled, instead of digressing on yet another issue of fancy stuff. But business-wise, you're right ;-)
kens
Hehe. I hear that. Just think of it as a way to keep the lights on while they crank out all those S2's and M9's. :-)
nee_sung
I think those are un-sold M7's and Leica is trying to move them.
The customization will probably be done by Hermes.
So my guess is that the production of M9 is not being hampered.
