Mary Doo
Hi there, I am currently looking for the best way to tether a Nikon DSLR to a PC laptop with a cable, to be able to see a captured image as quickly as possible on the monitor - after clicking the shutter.

I will appreciate your best recommendations on what are currently available in term of hardware and software.

Thanks in advance,
Mary
Matt Laur
Presuming you mean tethered shooting, rather than file transfer, you probably want Nikon's Camera Control Pro 2. Provided you've got the right flavor connectors, a normal USB cable is all you need.
gdw
No doubt, if you are using Nikon the first choice is Camera Control Pro. It not only downloads the image directly to the computer, bypassing the camera media, but you can make all of your camera setting adjustments from the laptop and even release the shutter from the laptop. I can't see anything that would replace it for a Nikon.
Mary Doo
Thanks for the tip, Matt and Gary!

When I posted the question, I thought I had to buy some kind of hardware interface + special software. Now I have successfully tested barely using a USB cable and Bibble Pro4 - that I already have. Can't beat this bargain.
Mary Doo
One step further - now that I know how to do it with a USB hookup - what is an efficient way to do WIRELESS tethered shooting?

Thanks again,
Mary
danny_donut
Mary,
You can use a wireless USB dongle set. Take a look at www.homebrewusb.com It should have all the info you need and provides a quick demo with a DSLR camera.
