i shoot with the lightsphere and shoot only film on a nikon F100. I use flash inside with lowlight situations and always have the dome off. i should try it with the dome on, but i think it sucks too much power that way. although i'm still learning about flash, the results from my last wedding were great.

It can be used with digital and film, but I think it is easier to use with digital. First, one normally overexposes slightly with film to get good density, and the LS is often already at the edge of usability re power in some of the medium to large reception halls. Gary Fong's recommendations to sometimes use ISO 800 and wide apertures are more applicable to digital. And because the LS does not have such a long reach, you may not realize this when shooting film but can see it immediately with digital. I would feel comfortable using the LS with film for portraits and closer in situations, but when it comes to the longer shots and in reception halls, I would not feel so confident.
