eric_meyer
Has anyone ever used this accessory? They do turn up occasionally, and I've often wondered how well it works. (I imagine the field of view isn't the widest? But that's not documented.) It would turn my 350mm into about a 27x scope -- hardly as convenient as a dedicated spotter, but I'm not about to spend the money on one of those.
joe_allebaugh
I picked up a used copy a few years ago to supplement a small 6x Brunton monocular, primarily for traveling. The ocular has a -3 to +3 diopter adjustment, and the lens it's attached to is used for focusing and length changes as it would normally on a camera body.

I use a vario R80-200/4 mostly, and longer lenses as wanted, even with APO 1.4x and 2x in good light. Spending 10-20x for a good spotting scope would never be justified for my use/needs, and the quality of the view using this eyepiece has satisfied.

There are a few links to info/review on the net under "Leica ocular 14234" or "Leica ocular R lens" to supplement my short comments. This link seems to be Leica's image and brief description - http://www.cambridgeworld.com/detail.php?item_id=20854
