cyanatic
Interesting article, thanks. I was only peripherally aware of Lee Miller and knew almost nothing about her life.
aplumpton
Recent issue of Black and White Photography (England, but distributed in NA) has a good article on her art and life, relative to a current exhibition. She was more important than often recognised. Speaking of women in photography, the Henri-Cartier Bresson Foundation (Montparnasse) has an excellent showing of Helen Leavitt's work. I was more impressed by the black and white New York photos than the more recent colour photos of the same African-American neighbourhoods in NYC. j.kivekas
Lee Miller has been one of my favorites for a long time. I find her work much more interesting than Man Rays with whom she dated for some time. They are the inventors of solarisation technique and it really appears that Lee Miller should get bigger credit for that too.<p> There has been and are some very very good lady photogs. Think about e.g. Dorothea Lange and Sylvie Blum. Of all times Lee Miller has to be the most authorative female photog.
