Larry Towell's "The Mennonites"

Have just had Larry Towell's book "The Mennonites" arrive in the mail from

Amazon and all I can say is WOW!

 

Is he one of the most underated documentary photographers? Also, it seems he

has a great work/home life balance.

 

Does anyone know if he runs any workshops? I've googled but found nothing.

He's a Magnum photographer, I don't think that makes him very "underrated." I have some earlier books of his, he does excellent documentary work.

 

I'd look for a great teacher rather than a photographer you like for a workshop. Being a great photographer does not have that much to do with being a great teacher. Plenty of photographers communicate better with photos than words.

Most of his public appearances here in his home province of Ontario feature his songs and words, rather than photos.

When i said underated I meant that he doesn't seem to have the high profile of other photographers. I really like the way he does other stuff like his poetry, music etc.

 

I haven't been able to put his Mennonites book down, very compelling stuff!
