Large photos appearing in 'top photos' thumbnails display

I was just flicking through the 'top photos' pages and noticed that

some of the 'thumbnails' are not really thumbnail sized any more -

maybe 400-500px across. Most photos seem to be displayed at the small

size that I'm used to, but if you click through a few pages you'll see

the odd ones - mostly panormaic but there's one or two with 'normal'

aspect ratios too.

It makes it difficult to see things on a 1024x768 monitor (lots of

horizontal scrolling needed) ... just wondering if it's intentional or

something that's gone wrong?

<P>I brought up this subject <A HREF="http://www.photo.net/bboard/q-and-a-fetch-msg?msg_id=007Vlh">a while ago</A> since I thought of it as a bug. But it turns out that this is a <A HREF="http://www.photo.net/photo-posting-guidelines">documented "feature"</A>. If the photo uploaded is smaller than 267 pixels in one dimension it is not rescaled, otherwise it is rescaled so that the maxium dimensions are 200 pixels.</P>

<P>Personally I think that this is wrong since it screws up the concept of thumbnails, but I have not yet gotten a reply from the maintainers. I guess that it is quite some work going through all the pictures and rescaling the one that are bad.</P>
