jamesmck
Someone has told me that he cannot use an Industar-50 collapsible on his Leica IIIa because the infinity stop goes into the slow speeds dial. Is this something unusual about his lens? I would like to use the I-50 (which I do not yet own) on my Leica IIIc.
carbon_dragon
I don't think the Industar is that standardized. That is, perhaps he saw this but other industars wouldn't have the problem. So even if you get a reply that says that it is or is not a problem, your own experience might not be the same. Just something to keep in mind. If you get someone who says their industar 50 doesn't cause this problem, maybe you could ask them to post a picture of it to make sure it's the same type you are attempting to buy.

The only time I have seen this sort of thing was with the old Minolta leica clone. Can't remember which one.
kelly_flanigan1
Both Industar-50 and Industar-22 are made in collapsible versions; plus the Industar-50 is made in a rigid mount lens too.
Industar-22 and 50 collapsibles here have several variants in the infinity stop; thus here may not be a black and white answer.
paul_wheatland
Another issue that may arise, the pitch of the thread may not quite match, thus infinity will be lost. Your best bet is to try the lens on the IIIc, before buying.
jamesmck
Thanks, everyone. Looks like I need to buy the lens in person!
jeff_guthrie
YMMV with these lenses. Remember to turn out the lens before mounting it on your camera (this way the tab won't hit the dial.

The example I have is excellent, a truly nice lens which I have had good luck on every camera which has worn it.
peter_schauss1
I have several Industar-22's and they all mount on my IIIa and IIIc with no problems. I do have to set the lens to its closest focus point so that the focusing tab doesn't hit the slow speed dial. Once mounted I get the full range of focus with these lenses.
