how much to charge for this?

Recommended Posts

So business is slow, and I'm open to new projects. I responded to a craigslist ad and this is what I got.

"Its a mobile home park. I'm looking to have someone take 75-100 digital pics which will need to be transferred electronically to me (uploaded to a website that I can download from, e.g. ftp).

I would like photos of the park and views looking at neighboring land/buildings. Also, pics of each home (from the outside) - multiple homes can be in each photo. Any site infrastructure such as streets, curbs, septic, water well, entry features, lansdcaping, signage, rubbish around homes, maintenance equipment, etc. should all be included.

I'm looking to get the pics within a week.
How much do you feel is fair for this work?"

Hmm. With or without an armed escort while taking picture of every residence in a mobile home park? :-)

Honestly, this sounds very straightforward. Practically no need for careful composition or worries about just-the-right-light ... and virtually no post production work. I would find out if the prospective client needs the images to be labeled in a way that records addresses/unit numbers, or mentions some other directional/location references while shooting the boundaries of the property. Or, will that person already know what they're looking at?

Would also help to know what resolution you'd be creating and transferring - just for on-screen viewing, or will large prints be made, etc? And ... how far are you traveling to make this possible?

I'd do work like that for about $100/hour, but it sounds like it would go quickly. You'd definitely need to know whether there's a couple hours more, or a couple hours less involved because of the need (or not) to tag/label each shot as part of the work.
