adan1
Hi there, One of my dreams is to one day publish a photo book and I already have a theme and some potential contacts. My question is how to best submit my body of work. Is it better to do a CD or make a set of your best prints and send them complimentary? Also, what is the minimum standard expected when it comes to size of picture? Is it better to do them in RAW? This is all new to me and I would appreciate some advice. Thanks. brian yarvin
Adan: If you're in North America, get yourself copies of Writer's Market and Photographer's Market. These two books cover the submission process and list many publishers too. Best of luck.
dusty2004
Hi Adan. Brian has probably given you the best advice. From my own experience I found it best to send them ten by eight high quality photos in a folder, with a cover note. If you have a particular publisher in mind speak to them about what it is you want to do. They will advice you or direct you to a more appropiate publisher. A word of caution. It will be hard work and there will be rejection. Perservere and you will succeed, as I did. The hard work is worth it. It is very satisfying to see ones work in print. Never give up !Cheers. kiwirob
from reading a magazine a while back there was an article from one of the pros saying how they hated when requested to give the RAW files when comissioned as they weren't then submitting the finished product as they wished it to be seen. So I suppose that is something to concider - if you aren't asked for the RAW make sure you have a high quality TIFF or such like and send in the picture 'you' want published.
