gavin martin
Surely there must be a big enough following to warrant a seperate forum for Hasselblad? I'll even lend a hand with it if it's needed. What say you all? Regards Gavin
brad_hiltbrand
Probably close to 50% of the medium format threads are already Hassy related. I do not see the need for a dedicated Hassy forum, but then I am not a Hasselblad shooter. It just seems like unnecessary forum proliferation to me. bobatkins
I tend to agree. The Medium Format Digest seems like a happy home for Hassy posts. I don't sense any real need or great yearning for a Hassy forum at the moment.
keith_laban
PLEASE NO!!!!!!!......will add to this when I have more time.
david_henderson
I wouldn't agree with this at all. The knowledge on this site is already dissipated over too many minority forums.
gavin martin
I agree that with technique, etc it's best when unified. That way you really do glean more from browsing through & people will contribute to an article on the way to finding what they came for. But on a the technical side, do Bronica readers want to wade through questions on hasselblad lenses to find info on their systems and like wise the other way around? Cat now firmly amongst the pigeons!
bobatkins
The medium format forum is categorized. Simply look at: <p> <a href="http://www.photo.net/bboard/q-and-a-one-category?topic_id=35&category=Hasselblad">http://www.photo.net/bboard/q-and-a-one-category?topic_id=35&category=Hasselblad</a> <p> If all you want to see are Hasselbald threads
keith_laban
<i>PLEASE NO</i><p>OK, really needs elaborating. I love Hasselblads, which is just as well as I use them exclusively. Love almost everything about them.<p>Trouble is they tend to attract some people for the wrong reasons. You know the guy (and why is it always a guy?), the expert/collector or obsessive/ compulsive, who thinks it enough to exercise the shutter once in a blue moon. Give them their own forum and watch them grow in number and pomposity (mmm..sounds rather like that Laban chap to me).<p>The Medium Format Forum has the subject well covered and is a far healthier option than a dedicated forum.<p>Inbreeding leads to madness. johnlund
Bob, the category view is an effective workaround, but to be fair it doesn't work with the unanswered questions feature, the new answers feature, nor the unified forum feature -- all are very powerful filters. Suggestion: direct people to the archive links instead of the URL. The latter is too much like a secret handshake for members.<br/> <br/> <br/> <i>"Inbreeding leads to madness."</i>-KL<br/> <br/> This from the guy who wanted "squares-only" "No Words" threads. Sorry, I couldn't help it. Bad, John! I will withdraw and punish myself...
gavin martin
Now, the madness has started . . . what have I done?!? Well it was just a thought, being able to categorise the forum helps in terms of finding particular items.
keith_laban
John Give yourself a damned good thrashing! :)
dave_lewis
My vote is to keep Hasselblad posts in the Medium Format forum.
