Hello Everybody,

Just wondering what these little holes are for in the front of the

body (as pointed out by red arrows)? Do they serve some kind of

function?

Thank you, and best regards

Oops, for some strange reason there was no option to attach an image with my original posting. Well... there are two very small holes on the front of the camera. Close to the corners, one at upper left and one lower left (when looking into lens).

Someone else will have the definitive answer for you. I do recall that there was a run of 500C bodies made in the 60s, prepared to accept a device of some kind (auto wind?)that would bolt on to the body on those holes.

I think the factory abandoned the idea & released the 500EL instead.

This I know for sure... the holes are factory original.

Just for clarity, all of early 500C's from the very first had the holes. The newest body that I have seen with the holes was a 1964. With the release of the 500 EL in 1965 the holes dissapeared.

In the early 80's a company sold converted Mamiya M645 widers for the 500c and 500c/m.

A Mamiya 645 wind knob will fit on a 500 C but a 500C wind knob will not fit a Mamiya 645 (I might have this backward!)
