Going to Indian Wells Tennis Tournament, Recommend Eq.

If everything works out well and Roger Federer shows up I am going to go and take some pictures. I have had both

Nikon and Canon systems and I don't really have a preference. Please recommend a DSLR Camera and a lens or

two that can take good quality pix from courtside box at the stadium. Budget: $1600.

Thank you.

Look here, which will tell you what some

others have used successfuly. You could have found

it yourself by doing a photo.net search. If this is a once in a lifetime thing for you, as you're thinking of buying

equipment for a particular tournament, consider renting by the week. You might try this company. I have no connection with them, but have heard they're good.

Their rates are certainly better than those at my local stores.
The advantage of renting is that you won't have

to skimp -- a third of your budget might rent you, for example, a Nikon D300, a 70-200 f/2.8 and a 200-400 f/4

for a week. I've attached a shot from a slow and soft Tokina consumer lens of the 1980s, but that's all I had with

me on a trip when the possibility of attending came up. It's not quite Indian Wells, but still a nice

tournament. (Find the ball and you'll see which one it is.) The woman serving won it twenty times.
00RWmr-89583584.jpg.37a602ce35159e4b6b032580e2eebfe7.jpg
