filter size Photar 50mm 2.8

The size looks to be about 25mm but experience in measuring sizes shows that I don't alawys get it quite right. Extensive internet searches have failed to find this. Does anyone know the size? I am hoping to obtain a hood to fit.</p>

<p>Get a nice digital caliper for a couple of bucks and measure it.</p>

<p>I was sort of under the impression that people used series filters at the time.</p>

<p>Does it actually need a hood? Isn't it a >1:1 lens? I'm not sure it was designed to use one.</p>

The lens is best at 3:1 to 10:1, at the former the working distance is about 55mm. This gives more options for positioning lighting than many other lenses for this magnification range. I can make something up using a clip but it would be good to have a proper filter or a filter ring to work from. (I have some matt black flock material, as use inside telescopes. A rigid lens would offer protection, the front glass being very exposed.<br>

Yes, series VIII features with Leitz Wetlar Elmarit lenses. However, my 60mm macro takes standard 55mm and the 90mm takes standard 57mm, so the series may not be so special.</p>

<p>The filter thread accepts the rear thread of a C-mount movie lens.</p>
