jason_greenberg_motamedi
Greetings, does anyone have any experience with or opinions about thislens? I believe it is a remarketed Horseman/Topcon. Coverage seems~235mm, and it looks nice and contrasty. If anyone has any hands-onexperience with the lens I would appreciate hearing from them. Thanksin advance. psartman
Yes, I've got the Topcor version. I think you're right about it being the same as the Caltar HR. It's quite sharp, though it has slight blue rendition (= about 82 filter) compared to Schneider and Nikkor lenses. The rear element is huge, it has a removable protection ring that I have to take off before mounting in my Horseman field cameras, shouldn't be a problem with full size lens boards. psartman
Jason-Regarding your follow-up question about center filters: I've never used one with this lens, but the answer depends on many things- transparency vs. neg film, film format, subject matter (large expanses of sky show uneven illumination), personal taste, etc. There certainly is substantial falloff on 4X5, don't know if it's more or less than comparable lenses.
