Life Photo-Documentaries
Good morning
I just bought a EOS TImer Remote Controller TC-80N3 from an Amazon seller.
When I connected the controller to either, 5D mark II or the 40D, the cameras start to shoot alone randomly.
I made sure all the settings are in 00:00:00, timer, intervalometer, long exposure and multiple frames.
Any idea of what it may be? Is it a defect of the product or Am I doing something worng?

Thank you for any advice.
JosvanEekelen
Seems defect to me. Does the display give any information about what's going on?
pjmeade
It does sound like a defect - have you tried connecting it without the battery in it? under those circumstances, it should just be a cable release.
If in doubt, send it back, Amazon doesn't give you that much time.
Jeremy Stein
This controller has a button which can be locked in the down (depressed) state. It may be that it is locked down; try pushing the button down and sliding to the end of its travel and then let it go. If it is locked depressed, it should then spring up to the non-depressed condition - and solve the problem. Try it. If that doesn't work, it's likely broken. Good Luck!
tudor_apmadoc
was it sold by Amazon or was it sold by an Amazon reseller. There have been cases where counterfeit items hit the market - flashes, batteries, lenses, etc. Another clue might be in the price - was it around the $135 or was it way cheaper?
