Elicar K mount macro lens

I found for sale an Elicar f2.8 50 mm macro lens in manual focus K mount in

good clean condition. I am not familiar with this brand. Is this lens any

good? Is the optical quality on par with a Pentax SMC of similar vintage?

A fellow there uses this lens (Nikon mount) 'with fungous'. I can't say I'm overly impressed with the photos as there is so much out of focus, but its what I could find.

Elicar and Panagor are secondary brand name Kiron uses. I believe Elicar has 2 macro lens, a 55/2.8 and a 90/2.5. IMHO. These along with the Kiron 105/2.8 are outstanding macro lens. Check out the internet prices, they are not cheap. Never heard of a 50mm macro however.

Thanks, guys. I agree with you about the annoying OOF in what was otherwise a nice picture. And I think the lens I looked at is a 55mm rather than a 50. Sounds like it may be worth picking up.
