joeh
I'd like to experiment with 3-D (aka 'stereo') digital photography: take two photos of a scene, one 'left' and one 'right', each with the same resolution/size and proportions. Then take the resulting two jpgs, and combine them into one jpg, composed of the 'left' and 'right' original photo, with the 'right' photo on the right-hand side and contiguous to the left photo. I would 'free view' the photo on a computer monitor, or perhaps get stereo photo viewing glasses if appropriate to view the monitor image. I know this can be done in Photoshop, but that is too complicated of a software package for me to deal with, and too expensive. What software costing $100 or under would enable that to be done easily (how about Picasa, or Picture Window Pro, or ... other)? What would be the easiest way to perform the stitching of the two photos and saving as one, using your suggested software program? Thank you. SCL
Take a look at http://www.stereoscopy.com for a lot of good info on this topic.
denisgermain
easy and not too expensive.... LEREO makes a cheap 3D lens or you can use a macro plate and slide two images away from one another (by about an inch). Then View them using a no glass techniques known as Free-Vision Fusion (Cross-eyed method) or treat them with a free piece of software (Callipygian 3D) to generate the classic blue/red images and view them with Anaglyph 3D Glasses. *********************************************** LINKS: http://www.callipygian.com/3D/?fromApplication http://www.3dstereo.com/

greg lockrey
I use Qimage to make my stereo pairs. To make a 4x6 stereo pair, I make each image 3x4 and place them side by side. Also if you are using a Lanc controller and sometimes the zoom focus isn't aligned, the you can rezoom it in Qimage to match your pairs. Very powerful tool for $50.
greg lockrey
Here is an example of stereo triplet "RLR" for either free viewing or using an aid done in Qimage. The beauty is that your original images aren't changed permantely and can be adjusted to be made to fit on the fly.
greg lockrey
Or a more conventional stereo pair in "cross parrallel" or "freeview".<div></div>

They are also nice to give away, so you can share your photos.
