david_dalton
I may be over my head. I have JPEG digital photos in fineIpic viewer. I have to make them 500 pixil wide to post in local paper. I called Office depot and Office max and asked if they had software to compress photo and they said no. I went on internet and saw Win soft majic version Advance JPEG Compression 2008. It says you don't lose any quality.. Has anyone used it and does it work as they say.
obakesan
Hi personally I find the best simplest software for this task is irfanview www.irfanview.com its even free! The image below was prepared from screen shapshots in less than 1 minute in irfanview

peter_mounier
Here's a website that allows you to resize pics for free. http://www.picresize.com/ Resizing pics is not the same as compression. If you take a high quality jpeg and resize it smaller, then save it as a high quality jpeg again, there probably won't be a noticeable loss of quality. mark_sirota1
You don't say what operating system you're running, but if it's Windows XP see the Microsoft Power Toy called "Image Resizer". Just right-click and enter the new dimensions.
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/Downloads/powertoys/Xppowertoys.mspx
