DIA - Avedon / 100 years of photography exhibits

<p>Forgive me if I am behind on this, but just discovered the exhibitions going on at Detroit Institute of Arts. They have two featuring photography. One about Avedon's collection and another historical perspective of photography. Sound very interesting and will certainly attend!<br>

<p>Coincidentally, there is an exhibit of Avedon's works that has travelled to Tennessee. I wonder if they have a big campaign going on in several places.</p>

<p>I went to see the exhibition at the DIA over Thanksgiving, and it was great!</p>

<p>I saw the Avedon show at the ICP in June. I really do not care for his work but this show is not to be missed. The historical notes add a great deal to understanding the work.</p>

<p>Given all the posts to many of the Photo.net forums, I find it most interesting that when the moderators initiate a forum about either the history of photography (for example the recent post about Charis Wilson) or the art of photography (for example the Avedon travelling exhibtion above) it often happens that a week or more will go by and very few people will comment.</p>
