From the Leica Collectors Guide regarding Summicron-R 50mm f/2:

"Two hundred of the first batch of the first version were in satin chrome"
No mention of any chrome samples being manufactured in the second version, but 1000 of the second version were made in a khaki finish.

From the Leica Collectors Guide regarding Summicron-R 35mm f/2:

"About two hundred very early examples were in silver chrome."
Quote refers to first version. No mention of chrome finish for the second version.

According to Lager, the 35 Elmarit-R and 50 Summicron-R accompanying the introduction of the original Leicaflex in 1964 were available in silver finish, and only about 200 of each were produced. I can't find any other reference to silver lenses for the R system. Of course someone at some time might have stripped and refinished a lens that came from the factory with another finish - black or olive paint for example.

The R3 Safari camera was Olive Drab green, and you could get a 28,a 90,and a 180,all in Olive Drab to match the R3 Safari camera, right from the Leitz factory. Black R lenses are made out of anodized Aluminum, and I don't think you can Silver chrome it,which is why M series chrome lenses are made of brass, which can be silver chromed. The new M 28 Silver lens is actually anodized Aluminum, not silver chrome.
