Christmas Week(ly) Processing Challenge 23rd December 2017

Discussion in 'Digital Darkroom' started by Gerald Cafferty, Dec 23, 2017.

  1. Another weekly challenge.

If anyone else would like to post next week please give it a go, upload a High resolution jpeg. Just indicate by Wednesday next in this thread if you are willing to try.

Remember there are no rules you can do what you wish in your interpretation, please can you give information of the steps taken and software used to add interest.

It is not meant as a competition just a bit of fun. PPC_23rdDecember2017_Source.jpg
  2. Converted to b/w in Lightroom. Used Fine Art filter in Silver Efex pro 2. 1489492_43597be51dab26ff75b25297a6ba7411.jpg
  3. Cropped from left side and adjusted tonal levels in PSE15. Went to Color Efex: graduated neutral density filter to lighten top area a bit, then applied graduated fog filter to top third, used warming filter to enhance tree color. Finally used sharpening tool on bottom area. 1489492_43597be51dab26ff75b25297a6ba7411 copy.jpg 1489492_43597be51dab26ff75b25297a6ba7411 copy.jpg 1489492_43597be51dab26ff75b25297a6ba7411 copy.jpg

  4. Only 2 duplicates this time.
  5. Levels, color correction, sharpening & crop
  6. View from a very cold window. Cropping with a little cloning followed by an ice filter. I need a red cardinal! icy3.jpg
  7. Before my previous Ice Ice Baby winter posting, I experimented with what I call my Trans-Siberian-Orchestra holiday version because it's way over the top. icy4.jpg

  8. Perhaps, Tom, the Trans-Siberian Orchestra could use this image as cover art! (Love that band!)
  9. After looking at Tom's abstract, I had to create one of my own. Inverted colors, replaced resulting some brown tones in the fg with dark gray, used sponge tool to boost saturation selectively, and (using Viveza) added a moon. 1489513_ec3532862ee9686364cadb8e7b38a70b copy.jpg
  10. Nice one Michael, how did you manage to only post one copy ;)
  11. I had to do it... o_O
  12. Started with colorful oil painting in Topaz Simplify, , then Pixel Bender in CS5, then NIK ColorEfex tonal contrast, and sharpening. ppc 12-24.jpg
  13. Posting just one copy must have been a mistake, GC!
  14. Glenn, were you, by chance, channeling Van Gogh?
  15. Michael, no, not intentionally channeling van Gogh, but I can see a start to a "Starry Night" theme.

  17. Kept things simple this week, all adjustments in LR. Crop, selective WB and exposure followed by a final crop.
