Hundreds of original fine-arts photographs from the 1930s, many of which were

displayed at the Century of Progress world's fair of 1933-1934, go on sale

Tuesday from collections at the Museum of Science and Industry.

The photographs focus on industrial, transportation, architectural, cityscape,

landscape, still life and maritime subjects. All are on their original mounts,

each is signed by the photographer, and each has its original museum label.

"They are vintage in the true sense, printed by the photographers themselves at

the time they were taken, which assures that image is the true expression of the

photographer's intention," said Kathleen McCarthy, the museum's director of

collections.

Though the photographs are being sold at a gallery dedicated to the sale--CoSo

Art at 333 N. Michigan Ave.--the museum intends to do most of the selling

through an Internet site,

www.cosoart.com, which also displays each of the

one-of-a-kind prints, with prices ranging from $300 to $4,000.
