Remember: only one image each week!

Happy Thursday everyone! Spring is nipping at our heels (at least here in Indiana) and I can't wait to finally get some warm weather. Pretty soon there will be no excuse to not have a photo. I want to see Tursday POW posts in the 200's. Okay maybe 100 would nice. I love seeing everyone's photos every week, but I really enjoy reading the motivations or stories that go along with them. I've noticed that there have been more photo only posts lately, which is fine, and less posts with a story, so if you'd like to write some commentary with your weekly contribution, I'd love to read and I'm sure others would as well.

This Saturday I had the priveledge of shooting a big college basketball game. Another "assignment" from the Louisville Cardinal newspaper (I hate it when work requires a floor seat to a basketball game). Big win for Louisville over Syracuse.

woodbyte
Here's mine. I shoot for my children's swim teams. Was up in Neenah, Wisconsin, USA on Saturday. I have a deck pass my club sponsored for me so I roam freely at the side of the pool and get some nice shots (hopefully). I also enjoy watching other photographers at work, particularly the professionals. The two subjects of my capture were at either end of the equipment spectrum. The young lad was shooting his teammates and the gentleman was a PJ from the local newspaper. I struck up a conversation with him about his lens. It's my dream swim lens - the 300 2.8 - perfect for a swim meet. He let me hold his rig as I was interested in the handhold-ability (how sad am I?) and my verdict was yes easily hand holdable, but not for extended periods. Anyhow the lad was as mesmerised as I was and I managed to catch him gazing in awe at the size of it.....
rgds
james

JDMvW
I finally got good enough weather to go off to St. Louis for the day. For the second year in a row, quite by accident I hit the Missouri Botanical Garden on the Orchid Show weekend, and also found, for the second year in a row that although the snow had pretty much melted off everywhere else, much of the Garden grounds and the Japanese Garden were still covered with snow. It was very strange walking around in the snow with the air temperature at 62º F. Of course, I had got to the Garden earlier enough to be OK, but had not figured out that the other places I wanted to go in town were absolutely packed with people on the Sunday before Valentine's Day. Duh- talk about being a bubble boy.

spencer_chrouser
Figured I'd try this out, though it didn't really turn out the way I wanted as it was super bowl Sunday and there were hardly any cars on the highway.

Camera

Canon EOS 7D

Exposure

6

Aperture

f/7.1

Focal Length

70 mm

ISO Speed

100

Exposure Bias

-1 EV

EF-S15-85mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM

jim_j2
Traveled up the Missouri River to the Lewis & Clark State Park for a day of shooting the Bald Eagles. Left long before daylight and arrived there before 8 a.m.
The fog never cleared . . .
Not much to show for a "full day" that remained socked in with heavy fog! indy_nandrajog
Last Saturday, I had to drive my son to his college for a class he's taking. I took my camera along to take some photographs while waiting for his class to get over. I had a lot of fun taking pictures around the snow covered buildings. This is one of the photos that I took. It highlights the gate to the Salameno Spiritual Center which hosts rooms for meditation and self reflection. It is in keeping with the color theme that I have been working on this month.

Needless to say, (magnanimous me!) I've volunteered to drive him to college every weekend for the rest of the semester.

Salamone Spiritual Center - Ramapo College, 40d, 15mm, ISO 100, 1/160s, f16
daniel_harris
I have backpacked and climbed mountains for years. But this past weekend I went with a friend to the east side of the Sierra to try ice climbing for the first time. I was a thrilling and refreshing trip. These are a couple of the climbers at the area I climbed near June Lake.

kazwiltshire
This week for me is all about new beginnings, I have been made redundant(victim of the current UK climate) after 22 years at the same company. So it was with a heavy heart i said fareware to some very good friends last Thursday, as soon as i was home i felt a renewed spring in my step and a nervous excitement thinking of all the possiblities this now offers me. A lovely coleague gave me a bouquet of flowers, hense the flower pic...to good to miss.
Now i have no excuss for not getting out and about with my camera!

ds_meador
We've had about a week and a half of almost constant rain. So, I've been playing in post processing some. mbkissel
Great shots, folks!

Karen, always step forward and never look back. Jeff, love the colors in this one especially with the lead singer in sillhouette.

I would have much rather shot this young hawk on a nice tree limb, but sometimes you just take what you can get. danferrin
A lot of nice shots today, as usual. We had nice, warm weather for the first time in a few weeks and I took my daughter out with our cameras to do a little urban decay photography Sunday. EOS 50D, EF 85mm f1.8, exposures bracketed at 1 stop, then HDR processed - working on a workflow that enhances without going over the top.
