andylynn
I've never used the G6 but I've used other G's and they're pretty nice. But the G6 is a 2004 model, sensors have improved since then, and the SX110is has a lot of zoom, IS (which is important) and a very nice screen and interface. I think it's quite a good bargain as well. Try both if you can.
zafar1
I recently tried SX110. I think it is very very nice camera. The image quality is very good and it's manual controls are very easy to use. See my test pictures here. These are full resolution images.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/zafar1/sets/72157610757583691/

For this size of zoom, nothing can beat it. Remember that Canon G series uses similar lens and optics as in other canon SD/SX cameras. It is just that G series is much more sturdy and more professional like controls (plus support for raw).

joe_nash1
Thanks for all the suggestions, and I think the sx110 takes some nice pics, and I like that big lens on it. Compliments my 40D well.
