Canon EOS M50 Adapter Question!!

Discussion in 'Canon EOS' started by jiklomiki83, Nov 30, 2020.

  1. I’m trying to get an adapter for my Canon M50 and was wondering if getting the Canon adapter is better or getting a third party adapter like Viltrox is better?

Will third party adapters harm my camera in the long run? Or does it not matter?

    Thanks everyone!!

  2. I consider it unlikely the 3rd party adapters could literally harm the M-series cameras, but when I got my EOS M5, I bought the Canon adapter. For less than $200 it gave me the use of many times that dollars worth of lenses already in hand and I figured if Canon couldn't do it right, who could?! I did buy a third party adapter to mount FD glass on the M5 -- mostly for entertainment.

  3. get a third party adapter - it's the same as the official Canon one

I got the real Canon adapter for my M50, and Fotodiox ones for FD and Leica thread lenses (FED-thread in my case). Relative to the cost of any of the EF lenses, the Canon adapter isn't a big cost, and you shouldn't have any doubt that it's correctly made.
