mike_jones34
I recently got my First DSLR for my 21st and im loving it. im brand new to photography but im learning faster n faster each day. few weeks back i purchased a Cokin P.Series filter system with a "Cokin p.700 (89b) IR filter. I read some lessons on the Net regarding IR photography and not one lesson i have seen has actualy said "how" to shoot IR... only the back end Photoshop stuff... Each time i take a Shot with this filter on i get nothing but a Reddy/Pinky Image. i use a long exsposure and a tripod. but each time i shoot a shot i never get the White Grass and Leaves ETC. also last week i read that certain DSLR will not support IR photography unless you remove the IR filter on the Cameras Sensor.... Does any one know if the EOS 450D can shoot in IR with a filter and if so how? im using ISO100 all the time. i shoot in RAW and im using a nice long exsposure time. with rubish results. Please Help Regards Mike
JosvanEekelen
I'm not sure but don't you have to convert the images to b/w?
mike_jones34
well i heard this too but then if you do the Post processing u wont be able to get any colour info so you would just have a B/W image no funky lookin IR lol
JosvanEekelen
I'm no expert in this but have a look at IR conversion of DSLR bodies, there are several options, some monochromic, another one shows washed-out colours. Wasn't traditional IR film B/W too? I'm not sure about that so do a google search and have a look at companies that convert digital cameras to IR. dave_desjardins
Hey there. Give this link a try. He explains things nice and simple and has helped me allot with IR photography. Although be warned, focusing with the 450D is a pain in the butt, however, it can produce some really nice IR photos. Hope this helps. Cheers. http://fototastic.blogspot.com/2008/09/infrared-on-canon-450d.html
