ellis_vener_photography
Bill Mitchell was kind enough to send me this link to a story by Laura Wilson about Richard Avedon's last few days and final portraits of soldiers at Ft. Hood and what Avedon was thinking about just before he died. todd frederick
Ellis and Bill, I have not viewed the link as yet, but I just want to say that I appreciate your message on Richard Avedon. He is a mentor for me and I appreciate anything I can learn about him and his life and work. Most appreciated and blessings to you, Todd

erin.e
Thanks for posting that Ellis. It is powerful and what a rigourous schedule for an eighty one year old man over 6 days.
oswegophoto
Ellis, thank you; please pass my gratitude on to Bill as well. I have long considered Mr. Avedon's work to be the epitome of portraiture, and this helps explain why his images have such impact. A humbling bit of prose, that. joshchapman
Thanks for the posting Ellis. For anyone that wanted to see "Democracy," the portfolio Avedon was working on at the time of his death, you can find it here.
