joseph_gledhill
How does the AF speed and noise of the Tamron 90mm (with motor) and Tokina 100mm compare to each other? Is one faster and quieter than the other? I would use them on a D90. Many thanks.
Wouter Willemse
I only know the Tokina 100mm, used it on D80 (which has same AF as D90), and AF is slow but accurate in the macro region. But macro pictures are better done manually anyway.
For usage in portraits and such, AF speed is OK. Noise is very reasonable, surely not as silent as a AF-S lens, but not like a coffee bean grinder either.
ArthurRichardson
I have a number of Tokina lenses that will be replaced by their Nikon equivalents due to sharpness issues going from film to digital.
Funny, the noise that is discussed in several postings never bothered me. Like Wouter said, it's no coffee grinder. But, coming from The Netherlands, like Wouter I presume, background noise is omnipresent.
stephen_worth
i've got the tokina and focusing speed has never been a problem for me. It's a nice sharp lens.
