erik_nelson3
Can anyone recommend a good 1-day nature/landscape photography workshop near the San Francisco Bay Area? I'd like to attend with my Dad, and I'm thinking of giving this as a Christmas present. Thru Google, I found a couple sessions with Light Fantastic Tours, by Gale Perry (does anyone have feedback on Gale?) However, it'd be great to hear of additional options. My dad and I aren't professional photographers, just recreational shutterbugs. We have decent, non-SLR digital cameras. We've taken a photo workshop in the past and really enjoyed it. Thanks for your help!
enlightened-images
There are a number of us around here that offer either scheduled group or custom private workshops. I've heard some feedback on the LFT, but it was from a few years ago. If not up for hiring one of us local pros, check with the larger Bay Area Camera shops. South Bay is Keeble & schucat (sp?), East Bay you can try Reeds, or maybe if looking glass in Oakland is still around. The consumer camera shops are likey to be a better bet, since they tend to focus on the more NON-SLR recreational / hobbiest, and most of the local pros I know tend to be a bit more in-depth on the SLR gear and the extended capabilities of that type of system; i.e serious amateur to aspiring pro.

Good Luck and Have Fun!!!

Gary Crabbe
Enlightened Images
craig_gillette
Another possibility - try a local REI. They may have some connections with local photographers. I've noticed offerings at some of the locations near me but they were Los Angeles area stores.
