tom_ahlers
The paragraph entitled "TTL Multiple Flash System" on page 71 of the Vol. 7 "Nikon full Product Guide" states: "The camera's (including Nikon D1 series) built-in sensor automatically measures and controls the flash illumination from all Speedlight units." Yet I've been told by two sources that TTL on the D100 doesn't work with multiple flashes. Who's right?
ellis_vener_photography
TTL wth the D100 and multiple Nikon SB-XXdx Speedlights should work but you'll either need to either hardwire the "slave flashes to the master flash via SC-18 or SC-19 cables or perhaps use a Nikon SU-4 slave. The first flash in the chain will definitely have to be an SB-28dx or SB-80dx. This is the left half ofthe TTL flash brain. (the right half of the brain is in the camera.) This controls all of the other flashes in the chain which are effectively temporarily lobotomized zombies doing the masters bidding. (Please: no "Young Frankenstein" jokes).
