It is not "as good" as the nikon, with some corner fall of and unsharpness, and of course it is not as mechanically well built. The answer is the same old one: how much do you need it and what are your standards. The Cosina will do the job, but is the difference worth it? In my case the Cosina is Good Enough and the Nikon is not worth the difference. The Cosina IS a good lens and gives very creditable results but it is not a Nikon and does not purport to be.
