billballardphotography
Hello, Each time I view an image posted on photo.net, there is a "folder" below the image with the following "tabs" or headers: Details, Ratings, and Copyright. It would appear the default is set at the "Ratings" tab. Is there a way to set the preferences to show the "Details" tab of the folder when the image is viewed? I've looked around and haven't found any information regarding a way to change these settings. I know many, many folks here on photo.net rely heavily on the rating system. However, I'm much more interested in seeing the technical information regarding the image I'm viewing. If there is a way to change this setting, so the "Details" tab appears when the image link is opened, I would love to know about it. That way, I wouldn't have to display images twice. Now, before anyone mentions this: no, I've not posted any images to photo.net for critique - nor am I a "patron" or anything of the sort - yet! These things will change in the near future, as I will start posting images as my body of work grows and I have images that I want to post! Thanks! carl smith
I've been meaning to ask the same thing. I'm much more interested to hear about the photo when I stumble across it than see the ratings. And the overall rating is restated in the details section anyway i believe.
seven
Depends from where you "enter." Click on a photographer's portfolio, and then a particular image - the default there is "details" and not ratings. Similarly, go to the photo critique forum thumbnails - click on an image, you get "details" as the default. Only when entering photo critique from the typed "list" will you find that the default is ratings.
billballardphotography
Thanks to Carl and Seven for their replies..... If I enter through a list, then "Ratings" is the default tab. If I enter through the Critique Forum, or through an individual portfolio, then "Details" is the default tab. I suppose then, the answer to my original question is "no, there is no way to change the default setting" if I enter an image through a list, such as the Unified Forum View. Correct? seven
I'd say that's correct, Bill. Another type of list is that of portfolios, but then the whole is displayed in gallery format - and you'll click on the image and get ...... details. I think only services@photo.net could change the critique forum "list" default from ratings to details. Should you be trying to avoid the time it takes for the thumbnails to display - there's something you could alter on your own browser, then you'd simply get whatever text is in the thumbnail display : but I'm virtually IT illiterate and can't help you with that! Cheers. Cheers.
