I am planning to attend a conference which will include photo editors from major magazines. I have moved to a new market where I don't have many contacts. So, this is make-or-break and I NEED to find contacts. I am trying to think of ideas for self-promotion. Business cards are common and are regularly trashed. The same is true with brochures. Because I will be one of many photographers (dozens with name recognition), I want something that will remind a photo editor of me after the conference. I want something too fun to throw away or something tasteful that a photo editor would use regularly. Ideally, it would have several of my photos, my name, phone number etc. Has anyone seen any good ideas for self-promotion? I would appreciate any suggestions. michelle_cox Posted August 9, 2002 Share Posted August 9, 2002 I'm not a professional photographer, so this may be the most cliched thing there is. :) At any rate, what I think would be cool is to put your business card on the back of a photo. Maybe business card sized, or maybe something that's framable. If they like the picture, they'll keep it and have your info right there all the time. When you meet a photo editor, say "... Please look at my works. If you don't like them, erase them and keep the blank CD..." If you have a lot of budget, there're advertisment companies which make inside-out-customized funky credit-card-sized rectangular CD business cards. alexgalt Posted August 21, 2002 Share Posted August 21, 2002 There are photo cubes which i always liked. It is a cube which is made up of 4 smaller cubes. Each face of the large cube makes up a photo. It is possible to twirl it so that 8 different photos come up. Everyone likes playing with them so it is very hard to throw away. It is possible to order those cubes with your photos and maybe one can contain your buisiness card info.
