paddler4
As most of you probably know, Canon doesn't include the shutter count in EXIF, making it difficult to get one. I want to get one for my 5D III, which I will sell soon. I am reluctant to install software unless I know of people who have had experience. If anyone knows a good way to obtain the shutter count, I'd be grateful for the advice.
John Seaman
I've used Canon EOS Digital Info on Windows 7 with no problems: LINK - Canon EOS DIGITAL Info You have to download and install the software, then run it with the camera connected via USB. It worked for my 7D. No guarantees it will work with your camera.

paddler4
worked like a charm. The best is that it doesn't have to be installed into windows, so it doesn't affect the system.
ajkocu
I don't know what I did wrong when I tried that several months back, but it worked now for me. It worked on the 5D ll and 5D lll but not the 80D. It didn't detect the serial number on the 5D lll, though. Windows 10, if that matters.

tom_hamilton1
Didn't work on my 7D 2 or my 5D 4. It showed all info EXCEPT the shutter count!
paddler4
Didn't work on my 7D 2 or my 5D 4. It showed all info EXCEPT the shutter count! Check the documentation. I vaguely recall seeing something saying that Canon has made changes that make the software not work with the 5D IV, but I may be mistaken. My two bodies are a 5D III and a first-generation 7D. It worked for both. I was glad to confirm the low shutter count for the 5D III. I hope that will increase its market value a little.
John Seaman
Canon seem to keep changing things. Practically every Canon I've owned had the on/off switch in a different place. I got a slightly unpleasant surprise when I checked my 7D - 122,000 clicks.
