PIVERSON48
I have a Leicaflex SL2 MOT that belonged to my brother and is now mine. It looks great and looking at the shutter speeds, they seem to be accurate. The motor drive battery holder was in but wouldn't come out. It looks like someone (my brother?) tried to get it out and broke the plastic cover. Well, I finally got it out and the batteries were corroded, not real bad, but bad enough to keep the holder from coming out. When I was taking it out I broke it some more, so it's no good, I assume. I cleaned the chamber where it went real good and am now looking to buy another battery holder. It also had a bad PX625 battery in the camera, but very little corrosion from it. Any ideas of where to look for a battery holder? I eventually want to sell the whole thing. I also have a tight fitting "soundproof" case for it. christopher_a._junker1
The original PX625 Mercury battery is no longer made or available. Wein makes a 625 size alkaline cell that will fit and has the proper voltage to power the meter. They're not too expensive, and if the battery contacts clean up and are all ok, the meter may still be functioning. The SL2 MOT is reputed to be one of the strongest SLRs ever made, which explains why they are such a heavy lump even without the battery pack and motor. Good luck with sourcing parts and getting it back in operation.
