JDMvW
I hate to resurrect older posts, but I did finally get a Leica M3 w/ Summicron. (LINK Leica M3 -- a personal history of the road more traveled) Also bought lots of LTM>M3 mount converters but haven't gotten around to trying them out yet. glen_h
I forget now if the rangefinder calibration is different for the Soviet lenses and others. I have a Zorki 5 that needs rangefinder calibration, but otherwise works fine. Also, I lived in Urbana for many years, and was also born there, living other places in between. Only once got down to visit Carbondale. -- glen
rodeo_joe1
I'm using a '50mm' Jupiter-8 on a Sony NEX-6. It's an excellent lens that's useable wide open. However, I put the 50mm focal length in quotation marks above because it appears to give a noticeably narrower angle of view than other fifties that I have. Anyone else notice this? And, yes, I do know the NEX-6 is a crop sensor camera. The other 50mm lenses were also compared on the same camera.
JDMvW
The Soviet lens makers did fiddle with flange distances on various lenses, but the big one to watch out for is that the SLR 'Zenit' M39 lenses are made to fit over the mirror.
