Uploads for free account

Why does it say, when I click on upload in the top right hand corner after I log in, that I can upload 15 photos ("up to 15 images or a total of 30mb per upload) but on the main page at the bottom it says the free account allows me 100 photos?

Is there a MB upload limit for 1 photo?

Is there a MB limit overall for all photos?

Is the a photo number limit eventually regardless of total MB?

What do you do with the photos once I press upload in terms of resizing?

Will smaller photos be upsized?

Will I have to resize my own larger files or will your upload system do it for me?

What is the maximum pixel width and height that will be displayed?

What if I want to upload a small file and ensure it stays small as it is lower resolution, can I ensure that it will be kept the same size?

I looked on the site and could not find this.

Granted I didnt look for that long, but it should be the one thing that is easily find able, immediately. . If you want more people to use this site this has to be described right up front. Right now there is a lack of free places to go to upload higher resolution photos. Photo.net is awesome alternative as the forums are great and its a fairly active community. 500px is kind of stale. 100 30mb photos would be great start and then I would determine if its worth investing 30 dollars a year to keep going based on all the other benefits the site offers. Heck, even 30 uploads would be great. 15, is a bit low.

Instagram is fine for some things, but certain files I have are packed with detail and it would nice to share them larger. But it will take a lot for me to fork over 30 dollars a year for this privilege. Photo critiques and photo contests and some sort of bi-weekly video podcast where you feature work from professionals and have them come on and talk about the images would be awesome. I would also love to see a similar video podcast where you feature a bunch of amazing images uploaded from random non-professional users whether or not they meant for them to be good or not. That would be fun.

I dont need my sites ad free, nothing is ad free anymore. You can keep the ads flowing and use that money to buy more storage space to let me upload more photo at higher resolution. I would pay 30 dollars a year to be able to upload 365 photos a year at the size they are out of whatever camera I am using.

I wrote too much, but I would really above all like some clarity on uploads for the free account.

Thank you

I understand that "up to 15 images or a total of 30mb per upload" refers to the quantity in any one upload. This is not related to member status.

I understand that "the free account allows me 100 photos" refers to the number of images in one's portfolio. This is related to member status.

Regarding the size of any one photo, it is generally better to keep the pixels number around 1000 on the longest side, though this is not a rule. It just makes it easier for in line display, but I've regularly displayed 1500pix on the longest side and that works quite fine. The main issue we've found is with a larger pix length, when a viewer clicks on "click here to view larger image" it can stuff up for that viewer. This also, but less strictly, applies to Mb Size of images, per image; in which case keeping each image to around 500~1000Kb is a good idea so everyone can easily view them.
